About the role

We are seeking an assistant for Humana’s child protection services unit at Matarin Youth Home in Vantaa. Matarin Youth Home is a seven-place basic unit offering substitute care for children aged 7–17. Our work is relationship-based and identifies neuropsychiatric challenges, using dialectical behavior therapy as its operating model. The role is part-time (50%), fixed-term until December 31, 2026, with three shifts focusing on evenings and weekends. The successful candidate will support and encourage children and youth in everyday challenges and participate in evaluating care and upbringing. You will work closely with guardians, the extended network, schools, and social authorities. Responsibilities include mentoring, documentation, household tasks, and transporting children (driving license and driving skills required). Excellent Finnish (spoken and written) is essential for documentation and collaboration. The team comprises social workers, nurses and social/healthcare professionals with basic qualifications. The unit manager, Sanna Mansikkaniemi, will actively support the team. The salary follows the private social services collective agreement, with monthly pay adjusted for part-time work (full-time base salary 2850.98–3110.42 €/month depending on prior relevant experience) plus shift allowances as per the collective agreement. Qualifications include a social or health care AMK degree (social worker or nurse), registration in JulkiSuosikki-/Terhikki, previous experience with children and youth in substitute care, and strong interpersonal skills; hygiene certification and basic first aid are preferred. You must provide a criminal record extract for work involving children and hold a social and health care professional card on starting date.
