Are you child-oriented and have a cheerful, relaxed work attitude? We are looking for a social worker in early childhood education for a 3-5-year-old group of 14 children. The group works closely with another similar-sized group. The team includes two early childhood education teachers and one childcare worker. We hope you have quick situational awareness, flexibility, and an understanding of co-teaching. In weeks 26-27, we plan to implement small group work, allowing activities to be tailored to each child's skill level. Our daycare values open interaction. Ruusu has 76 children, located in a natural environment with good transport connections. The groups go on regular excursions in the local environment. We focus on positive pedagogy, child-centeredness, and staff well-being. As a social worker in early childhood education, you plan, evaluate, and implement pedagogical activities supporting individual learning according to Helsinki's early childhood education and pre-primary curriculum, the unit’s operational plan, and the child's Vasu, working with the team and community. You build the activity culture and learning environment of your group. You support the child's social growth as a member of communities and society. You bring communal, social, and social-pedagogical perspectives to your pedagogical work, promoting equality. Qualifications: You must have at least a higher education degree in social and health care, including at least 60 ECTS in early childhood education and social pedagogy, or a social worker degree supplemented with these studies (540/2018 27§). Recognition of foreign qualifications by the Finnish National Agency for Education also fulfills the qualification requirement. You must have good spoken and written Finnish skills. The selected person must present a valid criminal background check for working with children (504/2002). A tuberculosis clearance for working with children under school age will be checked (Communicable Diseases Act § 55). When starting a permanent employment as a social worker in early childhood education with the City of Helsinki in 2026, you will receive a one-time bonus of 2000 euros.
