Job Description
The youth services of the municipality of Ylitornio are seeking a school youth worker for the period from September 1, 2026, to November 30, 2028. The goal of school youth work is to support the development and growth of young people through youth work methods, enhance school comfort, implement activities that support school community together with other school staff, and carry out preventive activities against social exclusion in schools. A key aspect of youth work in schools is genuine presence and interaction in the daily school environment. The work also includes transition work from primary to secondary school. The primary work location is at the Youth Center and nearby Ainiovaara Primary School. In addition to youth work within school environments, the school youth worker will also work in the municipality’s youth services during leisure time. During school weeks, working hours are mainly during office hours, but the work also includes evening shifts, as well as weekend and camp work if necessary. The content, working hours, and focus areas of the school youth worker’s role can be influenced by an approved project plan and within the framework of Ylitornio’s youth services, according to the professional interests, wishes, and strengths of the applicant. The work is intended to be carried out with a developmental professional approach. The work community of the school youth worker consists of colleagues from youth services and school staff. The qualification requirement for the position is a relevant education, such as youth and community instructor, social services student, or community pedagogue. Salary according to KVTES 2VAP60B1. A three (3) month trial period applies to the employment. The selected candidate must submit a criminal record extract concerning work with children within 30 days of receiving the employment decision, in accordance with the Act (504/2002). The position is temporary due to project funding, which lasts until November 30, 2028. There are plans to apply for continuation after this project period.
