Job Description
We are seeking a Unit Manager for the child protection residential unit Sipilä in Ylivieska for a permanent position. A new child protection residential unit will be established on the Pohde welfare area in an idyllic setting in Ylivieska, close to good services. Sipilä will have three wards: a seven-bed reception and assessment ward, a basic seven-bed ward, and a four-bed intensive care ward. Additionally, the unit will include two independent living apartments and a multidisciplinary team providing intensive support for outpatient care. As a Unit Manager, you will serve as a supervisor in the residential unit, responsible for personnel management, leadership and development tasks, operational and financial planning and monitoring, as well as leading client work in accordance with child protection law and jointly agreed objectives. Your duties will also include recruiting staff for the new unit. We value good communication skills and the ability to collaborate with parents, social workers, and other stakeholders. Successful performance in the role requires experience in managing a child protection unit and the ability to lead and manage the unit’s finances. The qualification requirement for the position is a relevant higher education degree and competence according to section 8 of the Act on Social Welfare Professionals (817/2015), as well as experience in child protection and leadership work. We will verify original diplomas and employment certificates from shortlisted candidates. Applicants must be registered in the register maintained by the National Supervisory Authority for Welfare and Health (Terhikki and/or Suosikki). Interviews may be conducted during the application period. The selected candidate must present a criminal record extract as specified in section 6, subsection 2 of the Criminal Records Act (504/2002). Before starting the position, the candidate must submit a medical certificate of health status (Act on Municipal and Wellbeing Area Officials, section 7). We apply a probationary period of up to 6 months for employment relationships. We follow the legal requirements for vaccination protection, including the necessary vaccinations under the Infectious Diseases Act.
