Job Description

The Eastern Uusimaa Wellbeing Services County is seeking a permanent Lead Social Worker. The position begins on August 1, 2026, or as agreed. The primary location at start is in Porvoo. From March 1, 2026, child and family social work and child protection services operate as a unified service area within the Eastern Uusimaa Wellbeing Services County. The scope includes initial assessments and service need evaluations, social work for child and family services and adults with children, child protection, aftercare, family work, and an assessment and reception unit. Our leadership team consists of a knowledgeable and motivated group of eight colleagues, providing peer support and local expertise. As a Lead Social Worker, you will act as the immediate supervisor for the child and family social work team. Your team will include both experienced professionals and those earlier in their careers. Your responsibilities include overseeing team operations and development. An important aspect of the role is personnel management and supporting staff wellbeing. You will participate in budget planning and monitoring together with the service manager. Your duties include developing and evaluating your unit’s operations and practices in accordance with shared strategic goals. You will also contribute to the development of the entire service area's operations in collaboration with other teams and the service manager. Your immediate supervisor is easily accessible, and colleagues are always close in our small wellbeing area. We hope you have leadership experience and work experience in child protection or social work with children and families. Experience in social welfare or work with children and families is considered an advantage. The role requires independence, good communication skills, and the ability to respond quickly. We believe in finding solutions rather than obstacles and that together, even complex situations can be resolved. If this sounds like the right attitude for you, you are the right person for us! Employee benefits include an Epass for sports, culture, wellbeing, and commuting. Occupational health services are provided by Mehiläinen. Qualifications include a degree in social work as per the Act on Social Welfare Professionals (817/2015) and registration in the social and health care professionals register (JulkiSuosikki). Good oral and written skills in Finnish and Swedish are required. Employment terms are governed by the collective agreement for social and health care personnel (SOTE agreement). The position is subject to a trial period. The standard working hours are 37.75 hours per week. The monthly salary is €4,544.19 plus possible experience-based supplements. Before starting, the selected candidate must provide a criminal background check related to work with children, as required by law (504/2002). The appointment is conditional upon a health assessment and vaccination protection as per infectious disease law §§ 48 and 55. Please submit your application by May 31 at 23:59. Interviews will be held on June 3, 2026. For more information, contact the child and family social work and child protection service manager Tove Lönnqvist at 0406761368 or tove.lonnqvist@itauusimaa.fi. Priority for employment consideration will be given to employees laid off for economic or production reasons within the Eastern Uusimaa Wellbeing Services County, provided they meet the qualification requirements. The Eastern Uusimaa Wellbeing Services County operates in seven municipalities: Askola, Lapinjärvi, Loviisa, Mörskylä, Porvoo, Pukkila, and Sipo. We are a bilingual region with approximately 2,800 professionals. We combine strong expertise, community spirit, and a development-oriented work environment. We offer meaningful career and development opportunities, as well as a supportive training environment. We are a smoke-free and a Good Mood workplace®. Join us in building wellbeing for people to people.
