Municipal Veterinarian - Hollolan kunta - Hollola, Finland

The municipality of Hollola acts as the host municipality for the regional environmental health unit of Päijät-Häme. We are seeking a fixed-term Municipal Veterinarian to work at the Hollola, Heinola, and Sysmä offices starting from October 5, 2026, or as agreed. The fixed-term employment continues until the end of 2027. We aim to accommodate your preferences regarding work locations. Päijät-Häme Environmental Health provides veterinary services within the municipalities of Asikkala, Hartola, Heinola, Hollola, Iitti, Kärkölä, Orimattila, Padasjoki, and Sysmä. Our team includes 10 municipal veterinarians, two animal care technicians, and three inspection veterinarians. You will have access to the necessary equipment and tools for municipal veterinary practice, excluding a car. Your duties will include a diverse range of municipal veterinary practice. The practice area covers pets, farm animals, and horses. We aim to distribute tasks based on veterinarians' specific interests. The work includes practical veterinary tasks, as well as some primary production supervision, animal import/export, animal protection, and disease control. The position includes on-call duties, which constitute 1/10 of the on-call shifts. On-call is organized separately. Päijät-Häme Environmental Health is responsible for large animal emergency services across the region. On-call duties are compensated slightly above the standard rate according to a local agreement, and we support work-life balance by allowing time off from on-call duties and flexible work arrangements. We value an enthusiastic attitude, good communication and teamwork skills, and previous experience in similar roles. In addition to general eligibility requirements, applicants must have a license under the Animal Health Act (765/2009) and relevant training according to the Government Decree on Veterinary Services (1031/2009). We also consider suitability for the role. The work can start on October 5, 2026, or as agreed. Salary and other employment terms are based on the municipal sector's collective agreement (KVTES).
