Job Description
A fixed-term position for a PRINCIPAL of BASIC EDUCATION is available at Paulaharju School from August 1, 2026, to July 31, 2028. Paulaharju School is a safe school for approximately 260 students, located near good sports facilities, serving grades 1-6. The school also has special education and preparatory education groups. We are developing co-teaching and community spirit in our daily activities. We are seeking a development-oriented and strong pedagogical change leader to lead Paulaharju School. As principal, you will be responsible for the pedagogical, operational, and administrative overall management of the school, as well as building a value-based organizational culture. The principal's duties include ensuring the implementation of basic education according to the curriculum, personnel management, planning, finances, coordination of multidisciplinary activities, and overall responsibility for the school's operations in accordance with the Basic Education Act, regulations, and other directives. Qualifications are based on the decree on the qualifications of education personnel (986/1998, §§ 2 and 3). Experience in school leadership, a vision for building a multifunctional organizational culture, interest in pedagogical development, strong knowledge of basic education, ability to manage finances independently, personnel management skills, initiative, and strong organizational skills are considered an advantage. Salary is determined according to the municipal collective agreement for the education sector. The selected candidate must, before confirmation of appointment, within 30 days of receiving the decision, submit an acceptable certificate of health and a criminal record extract related to working with children, as required by law (504/2002).
