Job Description
A position for a chief physician in clinical chemistry is available at the Automation Laboratory. HUS Diagnostic Center is Finland's leading provider of clinical laboratory and imaging services. Our primary operational area is the specialized healthcare of the HUS consortium and the primary healthcare of the welfare areas belonging to HUS. We also handle laboratory and imaging operations for the Kymenlaakso and South Karelia welfare areas. The HUS Diagnostic Center employs approximately 3,300 laboratory and imaging specialists across more than 150 locations. The functions of the Clinical Chemistry department of the HUS Diagnostic Center are located in Meilahti and nine other hospitals providing 24/7 emergency services. The department produces nearly 20 million laboratory tests annually and is accredited according to standard SFS-EN ISO 15189:2022. Our goal is to continuously develop our services in accordance with customer needs and lean principles. We are now seeking an enthusiastic, collaborative, and proactive specialist to join our team as a chief physician in the Clinical Chemistry department at the Automation Laboratory. As a chief physician, you will serve as the clinical responsible person for chemical tests and analysis processes within the department, participating in diagnostic evaluation and reporting, customer collaboration and consulting, as well as service development. Your duties include participation in laboratory service production, operational development, planning, coordination, and, where appropriate, training activities. The role also includes managerial responsibilities. The position requires familiarity with various areas of clinical chemistry and laboratory processes, as well as a customer-oriented attitude. Preferred qualifications include extensive knowledge and experience in administrative tasks, leadership roles, reporting and consulting activities related to Automation Laboratory tests, including chemistry, immunochemistry, hematology, and hemostasis. Good oral and written communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within the unit and with clients and partners are also desired. You will work closely with the head chemist of the Automation Laboratory and be part of the department’s steering group. The suitable specialty for this position is clinical chemistry. Additionally, a relevant medical doctorate or a degree in medicine and surgery, as well as a docent title in clinical chemistry, are required. The salary for this position is €7,600/month plus possible experience and other allowances. We also have performance-based pay and other incentive systems.
