The team is working on the core of the browser that moves the web. The fundamental network protocols and features like HTTP, QUIC, caching and DNS are our responsibility. We strive to provide a performant and secure browsing experience for the users. Furthermore we work on advanced web platform networking API like Fetch and WebTransport. About The Team and Role We strive to provide a performant and secure browsing experience for users and stable/easy to use Networking API's to our developers. We improve our existing implementations and together with the broader community we advance the web through the evolution of relevant standards. What You’ll Get To Do  Improve Firefox’s web browsing experience with a particular focus on the networking stack and network-related APIs, e.g., Fetch, WebTransport, etc. Design and implement new web platform features and networking protocols in collaboration with the web and internet standards community. Debug and fix correctness and performance problems in our multi-threaded codebase. Debug platform-specific networking issues. Improve Firefox’s stability and correctness. What You Bring Experience with programming in Rust and/or C/C++ and you’re familiar with the concepts of memory safety, test-driven development, data analysis and practices for secure software development. You speak English fluently and enjoy conducting software engineering work in the open. Previous experience with networking and/or systems programming is a bonus! You are enrolled in a university in Germany and are willing to occasionally visit our Office in Berlin.
