Job Description
We are looking for stormwater designers to strengthen and develop our skilled and growing team. As a stormwater designer, your tasks include diverse planning and consulting activities related to stormwater, such as planning reports for urban planning and various projects, stormwater management, drainage design, stormwater modeling, flood protection, and improving water quality. You will act as an advisor to clients, recommending innovative nature-based methods and participating in the development of new management structures. Your responsibilities also include collaboration with landscape architects and biologists at Sweco to design new sustainable solutions. You will be part of a competent, approximately 10-person Stormwater team within the 50-person Water Supply Department. Currently, we have several interesting projects underway, including the Helsinki Infrastructure Program and other alliance projects in the capital region. The work environment is multidisciplinary, involving experts in street planning, landscape, water supply, geo, nature, and environment. We work across Finland in 28 locations, with your office located in Helsinki. To succeed, you have at least two years of experience in stormwater management and a relevant infrastructure degree (Ins. AMK / DI). You have a good understanding of infrastructure components such as underground water networks, water bodies, catchment areas, and flood risk management. Geospatial skills are essential, and you naturally utilize programs like QGIS or ArcGIS. Familiarity with AutoCAD and Fluidit (Storm) is considered an advantage. Proficiency in Finnish enables work on domestic projects, and you can communicate fluently in English. You are eager to develop, positive about learning new things, and interested in exploring solutions. You have good teamwork and interaction skills, grasp the big picture, and approach challenges with a positive attitude. We promise you a chance to contribute to transforming society by creating future cities and a more sustainable society. Our international organization offers opportunities to work with European colleagues or transfer within Finland based on your situation. We value your development and career planning, offering diverse training through our Sweco Academy. As an employer, we are flexible, prioritizing work-life balance. We work where it is meaningful, including in our offices. If interested, apply via the provided link by June 8, 2026.
