Join us as a Geographic Information System Planner in Kotka! The City of Kotka is hiring a full-time GIS Planner starting from September 1, 2026, or according to agreement. Kotka is a fair and international port city where daily life is smooth and housing is affordable. The urban city center, beautiful archipelago, and Kymijoen wilderness offer a diverse environment for work and leisure. Urban planning plays a central role in the city's development. We are looking for a GIS Planner to join the measurement and real estate department's GIS team. The unit covers GIS, land surveying, real estate formation, and marina operations and is part of the urban planning department. Your tasks include serving clients of the GIS unit, producing, maintaining, and ensuring the quality of map and GIS data, planning and developing GIS services and workflows, producing official maps, creating map presentations and GIS-based analyses. Qualifications include a degree in surveying or other relevant education, sufficient experience in GIS and mapping tasks, and good Finnish language skills. Preferred qualifications include experience with municipal GIS and mapping tasks and good practical knowledge of GIS systems. We expect you to work proactively and carefully, communicate naturally as part of a team of experts, have good interaction and customer service skills, and be interested in developing GIS services and workflows. Your workstation is located at the city hall. The work mainly requires presence, but remote work is partially possible. The weekly working hours are 36.25 hours. As a city employee, you will receive a staff card granting benefits such as sports and cultural activities. There is also an option for workplace meals at a negotiated price at the city hall.
