Job Details
Responsibilities
- Lead, manage, and supervise the Biodiversity and Society (BDS) Programme and UNU-IAS Operating Unit Ishikawa/Kanazawa (OUIK)
- Contribute to international biodiversity frameworks like the Kunming-Montreal GBF
- Lead the International Partnership for the Satoyama Initiative (IPSI) as Director
- Promote research on SEPLS sustainable management
- Manage collaborations with strategic partners such as UNEP, CBD, and FAO
- Oversee public outreach and publication of research outcomes
- Lead fundraising activities and manage donor relations
- Support the Director of UNU-IAS in strategic and implementation plans
- Scrutinise research, proposals, and grant applications
Requirements
- Master's degree in environmental science, nature conservation, landscape management, biodiversity, community development, or sustainable development
- At least ten years of progressively responsible experience
- At least five years in a managerial role
- Demonstrated track record in research and policy related to BDS and OUIK
- Extensive experience in international conventions, treaties, and frameworks in biodiversity and nature conservation
- Extensive knowledge of international organisations and diplomatic relations
- Established networks within Japan
- Excellent writing ability for research and policy reports
- Extensive experience in fundraising and resource mobilization
- Fluency in English and Japanese
