Job Description

The Itä-Uudenmaan Wellbeing Services Region is seeking a Data Scientist for a fixed-term position from August 10, 2026, to December 31, 2027, or as agreed. The role is based in the Data Management and Analytics team within the Digital Services unit of the Corporate and Strategy Services, and later in the JATKUMO Omatiimihankke project of the Health Services. The Digital Services unit provides ICT services and is responsible for developing digital services across the wellbeing region. The goal of the JATKUMO project in health services is to improve continuity of care, productivity, and quality. The tool enables employees to perform their work effectively, thereby enhancing health services based on data. You will work closely with both the data management and analytics team in digital services and the team working on the JATKUMO Omatiimihankke project. Our team handles data management, data warehouses, and reporting solutions for the wellbeing region. The data warehouse is based on Azure Databricks, and reporting is done with Power BI. Through the data warehouse, you will have access to data from various patient and customer information systems, as well as financial and HR systems. Data modeling is performed using SQL and Python, and analytics and AI tools related to the data warehouse are available. Your tasks include: - Designing and preparing a data management tool for the JATKUMO project in collaboration with healthcare and data management professionals - Data analysis and modeling (e.g., population responsibility areas of teams, service usage, productivity, impact) - Developing predictive analytics and metrics - Supporting data-driven health services The data sources include customer and patient data, financial data, HR data, and other relevant operational data of the wellbeing region. Most data is modeled according to the micro-architecture and person-centered. The data foundation enables analytics, machine learning, automation, and AI utilization. As a Data Scientist, you understand data and its use in achieving health service goals. You will define data needs with management and implement them through the data warehouse for staff use. The specific responsibilities will be based on your expertise. Qualifications: - Suitable university degree - Practical experience in data science tasks or handling large data sets (big data) - Excellent oral and written skills in one native language and good skills in another native language. Additionally, we expect: - Good collaboration skills - Experience with Python or SQL in work tasks - Experience with data warehouse or data privacy solutions - Experience working independently in data analytics or data management We value: - Experience in developing algorithms or metrics - Ability to develop new data-based practical applications - Theoretical thinking - Skills in data visualization, e.g., with Power BI Employment terms are governed by HYVTES. The work is day-time, with a weekly working hours of 36 hours and 15 minutes. The monthly salary is €4,258.52, plus possible experience-based supplements. The trial period is six months. The applicant must consent to a security clearance. Additional information: The position will be filled if the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health approves the project funding.
