Job Description

The child is free to explore life's adventures safely within a larger protective environment. I believe that treasures can be found in the treasure trove that contain elements of life and courage to be just myself, a fair friend, and a Christian. A child has the right to be active and to be valued as a member of the congregation. Come and make this a reality with us! We foster a spirit of teamwork. We approach our work with interest and curiosity. We want to develop our activities to meet current and future needs. Do you want to do meaningful work—meeting children and families in everyday life, supporting growth, and offering safe, joyful moments within the congregation? The Kokkolan Finnish Congregation is seeking A CHILD SUPERVISOR for a fixed-term employment from August 3, 2026, to May 31, 2027. Your task is to help build a safe, inspiring, and Christian growth environment for children and families. The work is diverse and people-oriented, involving early childhood education and family activities within the church. The role primarily involves work with preschool-aged children and their families. Tasks include regular weekly activities such as day and family clubs, network cooperation, and developing open early childhood education activities. Additionally, the role includes events and family camps. We hope you are child-oriented, enthusiastic about your work, warm, and a safe adult for children and families. It is considered an advantage: A 180-credit basic qualification in Education and Guidance (child supervisor), which includes the special expertise required for the position of a child supervisor in the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland, or other suitable qualifications supplemented with sufficient early childhood education and family activity modules, including the necessary special expertise. Candidates with a youth worker qualification (Church Regulation Collection No. 164) and early childhood education instructor qualification (Church Regulation Collection No. 165) are also eligible. Musical skills and training are considered an advantage. The role may include early childhood music education work. A music pedagogy degree is also possible, in which case your role is that of a music educator, which also includes work as a child supervisor. Your specific duties will depend on your musical skills and training. We value: Motivation and skills to work with early childhood and their families; Understanding of the Path model and cooperation with kindergartens; Knowledge of Christian early childhood education; Ability to plan independently and implement activities; Flexibility in different work situations and environments; Creativity and courage to try new things; Cooperation and interaction skills; Flexibility and ability to work across different roles. We offer: A diverse and meaningful role working with children and families; Good orientation; Opportunities to influence and develop activities; Supportive educational team and work community; Work benefits such as Edenred leisure and lunch vouchers; Extended occupational health services beyond statutory requirements. The selected candidate must be a confirmed member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church. Working hours are mainly weekdays but may include occasional evening and weekend work. Salary is based on the child supervisor role (demand level 402) or music educator role (demand level 501) (KirVESTES). The work begins on Monday, August 3, 2026, or by agreement. Before starting, the selected candidate must present a criminal record extract according to section 33 of chapter 6 of the Criminal Records Act. The trial period is four months. For more information, contact early childhood education instructor Sirpa Karjalainen at 050-3147270, sirpa.karjalainen@evl.fi, or vicar Jouni Sirviö at 050-3147250, jouni.sirvio@evl.fi. Interviews will be held on Wednesday, June 17. We will invite candidates for interviews by June 15. Applications should be submitted via KirkkoRekry by June 14, 2026, at 23:59.
