Job Description
Join us in teaching the art of living in the education system of Tuusula municipality! Tuusula's basic education work is supported by good resources, functional structures, and a municipality of a suitable size with an agile and immediate atmosphere. We work with a big heart, community effort, and responsible courage. Come and join us! What do we expect from you? We are looking for a full-time primary school teacher (LI, TT) for a fixed-term position from August 1, 2026, to July 31, 2027, at Jokela Middle School. Jokela Middle School is located by Jokela Lake, a few minutes' walk from the train station. Our school has about 350 students in grades 7-9, and in the same premises, there is also the Jokela campus of Tuusula High School. The position includes teaching physical education and health education (about 10 + 10 hours/week) in grades 7-9 of basic education. We are seeking a competent individual to join our team. We hope you have teaching experience, flexibility, and a willingness to develop support for students' school attendance. Additionally, there is an opportunity to act as a resource teacher in other subjects. Qualifications are determined according to the decree on the qualifications of education personnel (14.12.1998/986). The selected candidate must present a criminal record certificate for working with children and provide an acceptable health statement. Why choose Tuusula municipality as your employer? For us, the art of teaching is that you do not have to face the ever-changing daily life of a teacher alone or with too few resources. We give you space to engage with students, make pedagogical choices thoughtfully, and develop work collaboratively with colleagues. As part of the Tuusula teachers' community, you will have: Resources that are visible in daily work Our teaching resources are well-managed. This is evident, for example, in special education, where we always have a broad-based special education teacher per hundred students. Sharing lessons, material procurement, and flexible solutions support teaching implementation across different schools, considering local needs. Work as a multidisciplinary support teacher You will not work alone. In your daily work, you will be supported by principals, vice principals, special education teachers, school counselors, student welfare services, and close cooperation with youth work and other networks. Co-teaching is a conscious approach in Tuusula. It offers many opportunities for collaboration and sharing responsibilities. Opportunities to develop and learn Tuusula has a positive attitude towards learning and development. For us, development means deepening your teaching skills and improving teaching in the long term, not constant change or chasing career paths. Above all, we believe that everyday learning happens through doing together. Ideas are listened to and often quickly put into practice. A municipality of a suitable size with an agile and immediate atmosphere Tuusula is a municipality of a suitable size: agile and approachable, yet very close to the capital region. Schools are often central places within their local areas and villages, meaningful for students, families, and the entire community. School leadership and principals are present and involved in daily life without heavy bureaucracy or middlemen. Salary, working hours, and employment benefits Salary and other terms of employment are determined according to the municipal sector's collective agreement for teaching staff (OVTES) and the job complexity assessment of Tuusula municipality. The task-specific salary is €3,365.38/month (including base salary + Tuusula allowance). A six-month probationary period applies. You will have access to occupational health services, and for your well-being, we also offer wellness, cultural, and sports benefits, including discounts on sports groups, gym, and swimming hall tickets.
