We are seeking a DAYCARE DIRECTOR We are looking for a daycare director (ID 1038) for Petäjäkangas Daycare in the early childhood education services unit of Kuusamo City’s Education and Culture Department, for a permanent position starting August 3, 2026. The director is responsible for the operation, quality, and results of their unit. The role emphasizes leadership in pedagogy and staff pedagogical expertise. The director also handles administrative leadership, including personnel management, planning, development, and financial oversight of their unit. According to the Early Childhood Education Act (540/2018) section 31, eligibility for the role of director responsible for daycare operations requires qualifications in early childhood education or social services (sections 26 or 27), a master’s degree in education, and sufficient leadership skills. We value work experience in leadership roles within early childhood education, especially experience in managing a daycare. Pedagogical leadership experience at the core task level, such as development or other practical experience, is appreciated. Success in the role requires good communication and teamwork skills. The Porkkatörmä unit will soon undergo extensive planning and construction of new facilities. We require a flexible, situationally aware, and development-oriented approach. Additional advantage is diverse experience in early childhood education roles, such as a preschool teacher. Experience in nature, physical activity, or adventure pedagogy is valued, as learning occurs through comprehensive care and education, full-day pedagogy.
