Merenkulkijan Daycare was completed in 1989, designed by Finnish brothers as a ship loaded with children. We continue to follow the routes marked by Vasu, reading maritime signs in Espoo. We have the skill to see hazards and, through collaboration, have also avoided shallow waters. Our daycare's renovation was completed in October 2024, and our indoor spaces have been thoroughly renewed, including furniture. The yard features an impressive and versatile inclusive area that evokes the atmosphere of an archipelago. From the cliff top, you can even observe the open sea! Captain Anu guides us with present leadership skills and ensures our resilience even in stormy times. Our engine is play and project work, where everyone on board has an important role. Assistant Director Vilma also participates in pedagogical guidance. We foster a sense of camaraderie among staff through themed evenings both on land and at sea. It is important to us that we know each other well to help each other when needed. A permanent crew position is available, currently in the Peränpitäjät group for 3-4-year-old children. Qualified teachers and child caregivers, a social pedagogue in early childhood education, as well as Kieku and Lveo, work with you in all ship groups. Merenkulkijan's home port is right next to Lippulaiva shopping center, from where we conveniently access library services and our ship's provisions for tough days.
