Job Description
Vallipuisto is an international and diverse early childhood education unit with skilled and experienced staff. Our work community is pedagogically oriented and approaches daily challenges with a solution-focused attitude. A positive and safe everyday life is important to us. Our daily routines are based on well-planned structures and appropriate small group activities. The principles of our daycare are respectful encounters and learning from each other. The activities focus on language learning, social skills, and peer interaction. Currently, Vallipuisto Daycare operates 7 children’s groups. Our staff includes 10 early childhood education teachers, a special education teacher, and 8 childcare assistants. Additionally, our pedagogical approach is enriched and supported by a language and culture teacher and a broad-spectrum special education teacher. Our community also includes assistants and substitute staff. The daycare is located in Pohjois-Leppävaara, centrally situated with good transportation links and surrounded by diverse sports and cultural services. We are currently operating in a building completed in 2023, awaiting the completion of the new Vallipuisto building. As an early childhood educator, you will be responsible, together with your team, for planning, implementing, and evaluating high-quality activities. An important part of your work is engaging with children both in routine care and guided activities, including play. In collaboration with other early childhood education staff, ensure that your group’s daily life is safe and smooth, and that the entire unit’s activities are community-oriented and focused on positivity. This role allows you to play, go outdoors daily, and observe children’s development firsthand. Come and get to know us! Workplace name and address: Vallipuisto Daycare Center, Veräjäpellonkatu 12, 02650 Espoo Working hours: 38 hours 15 minutes/week The position is temporary from August 3, 2026, to May 31, 2027. Qualifications: According to the Early Childhood Education Act (540/2018, Section 28, Regulation 753/2018, Sections 3 and 4) A relevant basic degree in education and guidance, social and health care, or an equivalent qualification, including or supplemented with sufficiently broad studies in child care, upbringing, and education. For example, childcare worker, daycare worker, or practical nurse (child and youth care program). We require good spoken and written Finnish skills, an active work attitude, resilience under pressure, group management skills, and a positive and committed approach to work. Applicants must present a criminal record extract as required by the Criminal Records Act (6.2 §). The Infectious Diseases Act requires those working with preschool children to have tuberculosis screening. We value special pedagogical expertise and familiarity with positive pedagogy.
