We are now seeking an inspiring expert in nature issues to a permanent position as a team leader in the Nature Data and Environmental Education unit, starting September 1, 2026. The team is responsible for coordinating and developing Helsinki's biodiversity work, assessing land use impacts on nature, managing nature data, monitoring the state of nature, promoting sustainable recreational use, and environmental education including the activities of Harakka Nature Centre. Your task is to lead the team and guide the expert tasks within the team’s scope according to shared goals. You will act as the supervisor for eight experts and seasonal workers during summer, ensuring the effective implementation of the annual action plan. As a supervisor, you embody Helsinki City’s leadership pillars: vision, enthusiasm, consistency, and execution capability. You are development-oriented and decisive, with good personnel management skills. You motivate your subordinates by example and lead them ethically and coherently. You can delegate and organize work to achieve goals collaboratively. To succeed, you need good cooperation and interaction skills and the ability to operate in networks. The qualification requirement is a suitable higher university degree. Excellent Finnish and satisfactory Swedish oral and written skills are required. Additionally, strong and versatile nature expertise, vision for advancing nature goals in urban environments, strategic thinking ability, and excellent leadership skills are essential. Knowledge of city organization and decision-making system, as well as practical leadership experience, are considered advantages. The salary is based on the complexity of the task, with a monthly salary of €4,929.35 plus a performance-based addition of 0-8%.
