The municipality of Kittilä announces the reopening of a permanent position for a language teacher at the middle school and high school starting from August 1, 2026. The languages to be taught are Swedish and English. We are looking for a cooperative and interactive language teacher to join our team. We expect an inspiring and encouraging approach to language teaching. We offer an interesting role working with young people and support from the work community. Kittilä has a middle school with over 200 students and a high school with over 120 students. The middle school has 12 basic education groups, three small classes, and a flexible basic education class. We offer modern, curriculum-based language instruction. The person selected for the position must have: Strong pedagogical skills and proficiency in Swedish and English Readiness for teamwork Ability to differentiate instruction Additionally, it is considered an advantage: Willingness to develop own skills and professional competence Willingness to develop the school community Ability to teach a third language (French, Spanish, or Italian) Qualifications are determined according to the decree on the qualifications of education personnel (986/1998). The selected candidate must have qualifications as a subject teacher in Swedish and English. Original certificates proving qualifications must be presented during the possible interview. Salary is determined according to the municipal collective agreement for the education sector (OVTES). Before taking up the position, the applicant must present an acceptable medical certificate of health, a drug test certificate (759/2004), and a criminal record extract as per section 6, subsection 2 of the Criminal Records Act. The qualifications of education personnel are defined in decree 986/1998. A six (6) month probationary period applies.
