Job Description

Kauniainen's primary school is a comprehensive school comprising Mäntymäki teaching point (grades 1-6) and Kasavuori teaching point (grades 7-9). Our work community has a strong culture of collaboration. We have 28 supervisors for school attendance and afternoon activities. The available positions are in Mäntymäki teaching point's special and language immersion classes. Supervisors in special classes work as teaching partners, guiding students during the school day. The language immersion supervisor works as a teaching partner in Swedish language immersion classes, guiding students linguistically with the content. Supporting growth and learning is a fundamental task for every employee. Weekly working hours vary between 28-32 hours depending on the grade level. The work and salary payments for school attendance supervisors are interrupted during school holidays (excluding annual leave). A suitable candidate for the role of school attendance supervisor is someone who: 1) has completed a higher education degree suitable for the task, a vocational qualification, or equivalent previous studies, a professional qualification or special professional qualification, and has acquired skills or demonstrated experience in guiding a group of children during education, or 2) is qualified to teach primary, pre-primary, special education, or subject teaching, or to act as a student counselor. (According to the Decree on Qualifications of Education Personnel 115/2004, section 9a) Applicants with previous work, coaching, or other experience in guiding children’s groups, or who otherwise demonstrate suitability for the task, may also be considered. We require good and fluent Finnish language skills, as well as excellent cooperation and interaction skills from applicants. For one of the positions, sufficient ability to operate in Swedish is also required. A four-month probation period applies in the selection process. The selected person must present a criminal record extract concerning work with children and young people (section 504/2002) before starting employment. Previous successful experience working in schools and/or children’s and youth’s extracurricular activities is an advantage. Experience working with neurodiverse children/youth is also considered an asset.
