Job Description
The municipality of Askola is seeking an early childhood education teacher for Puolukka Daycare on a permanent basis starting from August 3, 2026, or as agreed. Puolukka Daycare operates in Askola's church village, in cozy premises renovated in 2010. Our daycare has 34 care places and functions as a sibling group with flexible opening hours from 05:00 to 22:00 according to family needs, including weekends. The work of an early childhood education teacher in Askola is diverse and inspiring. As an early childhood education teacher, you are responsible for building the activity culture and learning environment of your child group, as well as planning, implementing, and evaluating pedagogically focused care, upbringing, and teaching in accordance with the early childhood education plan, the operational plan of the early childhood education unit, and the child's early childhood education plan, in collaboration with children, guardians, and staff. Goal-oriented and planned self-evaluation of your work is part of improving the quality of early childhood education, teamwork, and the work community. We require you to have the qualification of an early childhood education teacher according to the Early Childhood Education Act (540/2018), excellent cooperation, interaction, and teamwork skills, as well as a positive attitude and solution-oriented work approach. Success in the role requires flexibility, suitability for the work and community, and excellent oral and written Finnish language skills. We expect you to have the ability to lead pedagogy within your team and child group, and to meet families and children individually, sensitively, and respectfully. We especially value the willingness to develop professionally and the ability to create a calm atmosphere amidst daily routines. According to the latest staff survey, we have motivated employees who can utilize their knowledge and skills in various ways at work. Salary and other terms of employment are determined according to the municipal sector's teaching staff collective agreement (OVTES). The working hours are 38.25 hours per week. The salary based on the pay scale from August 1, 2026, is €3,109.33/month. The position is subject to a six-month probation period. The selected candidate must provide an acceptable health certificate (KVhL section 7) and a criminal record extract (as per the Criminal Records Act section 6, subsection 2, law 504/2002) to the employer. The Infectious Diseases Act (§55) requires those working with preschool children to clarify the risk of tuberculosis transmission before starting employment.
