Job Description

Would you like a slightly better job? Come work in the early childhood education sector for the City of Oulu! We have proven that employees enjoy working here: you will have encouraging and inspiring colleagues and supervisors. You will have opportunities to develop and train, and if you wish, you can also participate in job rotation. We are always at the forefront of national development. We are the beginning of a unified growth and learning path in Oulu. Come to child-friendly Oulu to make a cultural climate change! A fixed-term position for an EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION TEACHER is available at Saarela Daycare Center from August 3, 2026, to December 31, 2026. Saarela Daycare Center is located in a natural setting that encourages movement and play. Our operating principle is to meet each child positively, with respect and encouragement. In our flexible small-group activities, children can play and learn in a relaxed learning environment. The early childhood education teacher is responsible for planning, implementing, evaluating, and developing pedagogical activities within their team, and participates in the overall pedagogical development of the daycare. Qualifications for the early childhood education teacher position include compliance with the Early Childhood Education Act (540/2018, Section 26), considering the transitional provisions for personnel under the same act (Section 75). A bachelor's degree in education must include studies providing professional skills for early childhood education or at least 60 ECTS credits in social pedagogy or social and health care studies related to early childhood education. We value good interaction and team leadership skills, as well as a development-oriented work attitude. The salary for the early childhood education teacher is based on the job-specific pay system and levels of competence and responsibility, ranging from €2,864.37 to €2,975.07. The actual salary consists of a task-specific salary and possible other levels according to the collective agreement. Before starting the position, the selected candidate must present a criminal record extract as required by law (504/2002) concerning work with children. According to the Infectious Diseases Act (Section 55), the employer is responsible for requiring a reliable statement that the employee or intern/students do not have active tuberculosis before starting work. This must be done before signing the employment contract. The position includes a trial period. Applications are primarily submitted via the electronic application form. If submitting electronically is not possible, send your application to the City of Oulu Registry Office, P.O. Box 71, 90015 Oulu City, or in person to Kansankatu 55A. The written application must include the task-specific case number OUKA/7735/2026. Applications must be received by June 8, 2026, at 4:15 PM.
