Job Description
Lapland Regional Council is seeking a regional planner for a permanent position. We offer an interesting and developmental job. You will have the opportunity to influence the development of Lapland and the northern region, as well as participate in promoting international cooperation in a changing operational environment. The regional planner's duties include coordinating regional transportation system planning and aligning it with regional development efforts and the national transportation plan, as well as participating in accessibility and transportation system advocacy. A key task is also developing international transportation cooperation and cross-border transportation system planning. The regional planner will participate in the preparation of regional land use plans, especially concerning transportation networks, transportation and logistics areas, and other transportation issues. The position is within the regional planning department, which aims to enable the sustainable and long-term development of the region through land use and transportation system planning. The department is also developing cross-border transportation planning and Finland's joint maritime planning. The responsibilities are handled by a team of land use experts, supporting and encouraging success in tasks while considering the expertise and strengths of different specialists. The regional planner will be part of a team responsible for tasks such as regional land use planning, preparing statements and decision matters, negotiations with authorities and stakeholders, and working group activities. Applicants are required to have a suitable higher university degree, experience in transportation system planning, good written and spoken Finnish skills, and fluent English skills. Experience in land use planning, especially regional land use planning, is an advantage, as well as other relevant planning experience. Previous experience in Nordic cooperation is also beneficial. We expect applicants to have development skills, an independent work approach, teamwork ability, and good negotiation skills. The job may require travel, so applicants must be prepared for business trips, hold a valid driver’s license, and have driving rights. The employment relationship is governed by the municipal general collective agreement. Salary is based on the salary system approved by Lapland Regional Council. The salary level for the position is €4,517.89. The employment includes a six-month probation period. The start date is negotiable.
