Special Class Teacher Substitute - Suomussalmen kunta - Suomussalmi, Finland

The municipality of Suomussalmi is seeking a substitute for a primary school special class teacher for the period from August 11, 2026, to December 22, 2026. The position is located at Ruukinkangas School. The role requires good pedagogical skills and classroom management abilities, insight into flexible support arrangements, and familiarity with the new learning support model based on the changes in the Basic Education Act effective August 1, 2025. We value good cooperation skills, proficiency with modern teaching tools and methods, and a developmental approach. The special class teacher position involves working with students in grades E-6 at Ruukinkangas School in autumn 2026. Qualifications for teaching positions are determined according to the Decree No. 986/98 on the qualifications of education personnel. The selected candidate must have the qualification of a special class teacher. If there are no qualified applicants, we are also open to considering applicants studying to become special education teachers / special class teachers, as well as other education professionals. Terms of employment are governed by the municipal collective agreement for education (OVTES), and the substitute position is filled with a two (2) month probation period. Teaching duties and salary are determined according to the regulations concerning basic education in OVTES. Applicants must provide an acceptable medical certificate of health and a criminal record extract issued in accordance with Law 504/2002 before taking up the position.
