The Senior Detective position is administratively located at the East Finland Police Department, Kuopio Main Police Station, within the preliminary processing team (ISREKKUO). The position is not tied to a specific workplace, and the workplace can be any police station within the department. Please indicate your preferred workplace in your application. The Senior Detective operates with limited investigative authority as defined by the Investigation Act. Their main duties include preliminary processing and decision-making on more complex criminal cases across the entire police department area, as well as cases involving extensive material that requires more time and detailed review. You will perform your duties in accordance with police values. The core task of preliminary processing is to handle crime reports and investigation requests made to the police, and based on the information received, determine whether the case requires preliminary investigation or can be decided or handled otherwise without initiating preliminary investigation. The preliminary processing activities of the police department are currently organized by field command areas. These areas generally follow regional borders, and the responsibility area of the preliminary processing teams covers the entire field command area. However, the regional preliminary processing team may also be tasked with processing duties from other field command areas.
