In this role, you will influence the daily functioning for 1.6 million residents in the region. We are now seeking a permanent, senior management-level position DIRECTOR, Operational Results Area HSL is restructuring its organization starting from 1.6.2026 to respond to changes in the operating environment, increasing customer expectations, and strategic goals. The director of the operational results area will lead one of HSLa0s most critical entities and be responsible for building a new operational results area. As the director of the operational results area, you will oversee the daily operation, safety, and customer experience of public transportation in the Helsinki metropolitan area. You will lead a team of over 60 experts and integrate several key functions into a cohesive, impactful operational unit. This role is strategically important, and you will be responsible for developing operational performance, incident resilience, communication, and customer experience at the customer interface. REQUIREMENTS: - Suitable higher university degree and sufficient leadership experience - Excellent Finnish and satisfactory Swedish oral and written skills - Ability to lead a broad, continuously operational entity and make impactful decisions in rapidly changing situations - People management skills aligned with HSLa0s values and leadership culture: leading with kindness and firmness, respecting, listening, and involving, setting clear direction, goals, and priorities, and enabling success by removing obstacles and building performance. We are looking for an experienced leader with: - Strong experience managing demanding operational entities (e.g., transportation, logistics, infrastructure, safety, or other critical 24/7 environments) - Proven track record in strategy implementation and performance improvement - Experience in managing disruptions and exceptional situations - Ability to lead change and support HSLa0s preparedness and resilience - Excellent stakeholder management skills (authorities, service providers, partners) - Strong understanding of customer orientation, communication, and data utilization EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: - Experience in public transportation or related transportation services - Experience in safety or emergency management - Experience in crisis communication - Proven digitalization utilization in operational management - Good command of English The position is a fixed-term employment with a six-month probation period.
