We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled youth worker for a permanent position to strengthen the team of Ylöjärvi city's youth services. About us Ylöjärvi's youth services offer diverse services for young people in the city. Our activities include youth centers, mobile youth work, school community guidance, and activities for young people requiring special support. We also organize camps and trips, and provide opportunities for international activities and influence. Our goal is that every young person finds suitable activities, receives support from a trusted adult, and feels safe and accepted as themselves. Our work community consists of over 20 professionals. Job description A youth worker acts as a professional in youth work, education, and guidance. The main target group is 9-17-year-olds. The focus is on genuine engagement with young people and supporting their well-being in everyday situations and shared activities. The youth worker acts as a low-threshold presence and encounter, a supporter alongside young people, and a voice for young people. The work is carried out in collaboration with youth service staff and various stakeholders. The position includes regular evening and weekend work. Practically, the youth worker is responsible for youth center activities in two youth center areas. The role includes planning, implementing, and coordinating activities, collaborating with different actors, and necessary procurement. Additionally, the work involves school cooperation within the area. During holiday times, the focus shifts to camps, trips, day activities, and events. The job requires the use of a personal car. We expect from you: Experience in youth center work Experience in organizing daily activities in a youth space Experience working with young people of different ages Self-directed and flexible work approach Readiness to operate in various environments Good interaction and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Organizational and planning skills. Qualifications The successful applicant must have a suitable higher education degree, such as a community pedagogue (AMK). Application deadline: June 1, 2026 Interviews will be held on June 9, 2026 Employment terms are governed by the Municipal General Collective Agreement (KVTES). The starting salary is €2,566.87 per month, with possible additional compensation. The working hours are 38.25 hours per week. A six-month probationary period applies to the position. Before accepting the position, the selected candidate must present a criminal record extract in accordance with Act 504/2002 to verify a clean background for working with children.
