The Jyväskylä city early childhood education services include preschools, family day care, clubs, and family parks. As a city of children and families, we are continuously building new daycares and preschool schools. We develop our services and pedagogy to meet the needs of children and families, as well as new curricula and societal changes. Child and family participation is important to us. We are now recruiting EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION SPECIAL TEACHERS for permanent and fixed-term positions starting August 3, 2026. The permanent position is initially located in the Korpilahti-Tikkala management area, and the fixed-term positions for the 2026-2027 season are in the Korpilahti-Keljonkangas and Wessmanni-Vaajakumpu areas. During recruitment, other early childhood education special teacher roles may also be open. The special teacher works as an expert in early childhood education and special pedagogy within their unit, collaborating with teams and parents, developing pedagogical practices tailored to individual development needs, and consulting staff on support methods. The role emphasizes cooperation with the daycare director, coordinating multidisciplinary collaboration, and working with the regional team and transition actors. The qualification requirement is a valid qualification as an early childhood education teacher under the Early Childhood Education Act 540/2018, supplemented by studies in special education or a master's degree in education with a major in special pedagogy. Good communication skills, interest in child-centered practices, future-oriented early childhood education, and shared leadership are also expected.
