Job Description
As our current regional coordinator transitions to focus on studies, we are seeking a new regional coordinator who is enthusiastic about engaging with people, supporting volunteers, and developing activities. Additionally, you have a genuine desire to work for animals. Your area of responsibility covers Southern and Eastern Finland, but as a team, we handle volunteer work nationwide. The core of SEY’s regional activities is the development and enhancement of regional and local animal protection work. In this role, you will be responsible for the overall management of volunteer activities in your area – coordinating, strengthening, and ensuring smooth daily operations. As a regional coordinator: You will act as a team leader and mentor for volunteers, inspiring, guiding, and supporting them. You will be familiar with the actors, strengths, and development needs in your area and participate in developing activities. You will build and maintain collaboration networks among local stakeholders. You will participate in recruiting new volunteers and training them. You will be involved in customer service related to animal protection advice and handling animal protection reports. You will work closely with SEY’s member associations and various stakeholders, such as authorities and other animal protection organizations in your region. You will actively travel within your area to meet volunteers and organize various cooperation meetings. You will serve as an important link between SEY’s office and the volunteer field, communicating current issues. SEY’s direct volunteers carry out practical animal rescue work in the field, provide animal protection advice, and engage in preventive work. Your area includes Uusimaa, Kanta-Häme, Päijät-Häme, Kymenlaakso, South Savo, and South Karelia. What we expect from you: We are looking for someone with: Experience in coordinating or leading volunteers or guiding communities. Strong collaboration and networking skills. Fluent oral and written communication skills. Ability to manage your own work and handle multiple tasks. Suitable educational background (e.g., Bachelor’s degree). Additionally, success in this role is supported by: Experience in volunteer and animal protection activities and cooperation with authorities. Knowledge of animal welfare and organizational work. You work naturally both independently in remote work and as part of a team. You are resilient in the face of setbacks and adaptable to a changing environment. You have a genuine desire to act for animals and the ability to handle sometimes challenging situations and animal protection cases. Proficiency in MS Office tools is required, and you can easily learn new systems. Skills in English and Swedish are considered an advantage. You are prepared to travel regularly within Southern and Eastern Finland. Volunteer meetings may take place partly in the evenings, so flexibility in working hours is required. We offer you diverse and meaningful work in Finland’s largest animal protection organization. You will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of animal protection and create new ways of working. Independent remote work provides flexibility in organizing your tasks. You will be supported by two regional coordinators, the volunteer team, and the entire SEY staff. You will have access to comprehensive employee benefits, including extensive occupational health services. The monthly salary for this position is 3021 euros. Additional information and application: The regional coordinator position is a permanent remote employment with a weekly working time of 37.5 hours. The role requires presence and travel readiness mainly within Southern and Eastern Finland, a driver’s license, and the ability to use a car. The job also involves working flexible hours, including some evenings and occasional weekends. The start date is negotiable, ideally as soon as possible. Apply by August 5, 2026. We do not accept applications via email. For more information about the position, contact Volunteer Activities Team Leader Riina Itkonen on Friday, July 3rd, from 10:00 to 11:30 and Monday, August 3rd, from 10:00 to 11:30 at +358 45 7885 0173 or riina.itkonen@sey.fi. We value and promote diversity and equality in our workplace. We welcome applicants from various backgrounds, including different ages, genders, and cultural or minority groups.
