Special Education Teacher

The City of Kaarina's early childhood education department is seeking one Special Education Teacher for Early Childhood Education for a permanent position starting September 1, 2026 (or by agreement). The Special Education Teacher will work at Kultanummi and Monitoimitalo kindergartens. The kindergartens are located in Littoinen, a couple of kilometers apart. The working hours are divided equally between the two units. Kultanummi kindergarten has one pre-primary group and three other children's groups. Kultanummi currently operates across three different addresses until the new kindergarten is completed as planned in the summer of 2027. Monitoimitalo kindergarten began operations at the Littoinen multi-purpose center in August 2022 and has four children's groups. The Special Education Teacher is part of the City of Kaarina's early childhood special education team. In addition to the special education teachers, the team includes a leading special education teacher, a city-wide special education teacher for early childhood and pre-primary education, and an occupational therapist for early childhood education. The leading teacher and the city-wide teacher consult and develop city-wide practices for support and part-time special education, and create and maintain common operating models in cooperation with the entire team. The occupational therapist works in the units within the children's groups as support for the educators, working in close cooperation with the unit's special education teachers. We require up-to-date special pedagogical expertise and an interest in developing part-time special education. We value a readiness to strengthen and support the implementation of general support in early childhood education units, as well as expertise in methods and practices related to emotional and security skills. The applicant must meet the eligibility requirements according to Section 30 of the Early Childhood Education Act (540/2018). The selected person must provide the employer with a criminal record extract as referred to in Section 6, subsection 2 of the Criminal Records Act (Act on the Verification of the Criminal Background of Persons Working with Children 504/2002). Section 55 of the Communicable Diseases Act requires the verification of tuberculosis infection risk for those working with children under school age.
