Mechanical Designer

We are seeking an experienced and solution-oriented mechanical designer to strengthen our client company’s product development team on a large-scale mass customization project. The client operates in the machine shop industry and invests in product development of their own brands and high-quality manufacturing. The role involves designing mechanical systems and taking new project phases to completion in collaboration with lead designers. You will work as part of a small team designing robust and functional structures for all brands. Primary sites are Haapajärvi and Ylistaro, with Tampere as a possible workplace during onboarding; after start, the working model is expected to be more flexible, with on-site work prioritized initially. Responsibilities include diverse mechanical design with emphasis on steel structures, hydraulics, and 3D modeling as part of a broad product development project; mechanical design and 3D modeling in SolidWorks; preparation of manufacturing drawings for production; design of welded steel structures and sheet metal parts; arranging hydraulic components as part of the mechanical assembly; autonomous management of project modules and sub-assemblies; drafting technical documentation in Finnish and English; development of cost-efficient and manufacturing-friendly structures. Requirements include strong SolidWorks proficiency; experience in designing welded steel structures; basic understanding of hydraulics and its integration into mechanics; fluent Finnish and good technical English for documentation; independent and precise work style with problem-solving ability. Desirable extras include experience with sheet metal design and prior experience in similar machine workshop product development tasks; cost-awareness in the design process.
