Communications Internship

Background and purpose: The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Brazil offers internships to graduate-level students to gain direct exposure to the work of a multinational organization. The internship program for the Communications Unit is designed to complement development-oriented studies with practical experience in various aspects of multilateral technical cooperation, international studies, international development and inclusive growth. The intern will support the Communications Team in daily activities and help accomplish the goals and tasks of UNDP Brazil Strategy. The internship does not guarantee future employment. Internships may be full-time or part-time and can take place at UNDP Brazil premises in Brasilia or remotely (home-based). Responsibilities include daily news clipping, assisting with website maintenance, translating documents and press releases, supporting in writing communications materials, creating and updating social media contents, assisting with video production and graphic design, collecting information on UNDP themes, helping with events, maintaining mailing lists, handling media inquiries, and other related tasks as requested. Competencies and critical success factors include teamwork, professionalism, planning and organizing, continuous learning, technological awareness, and strong written and oral communication. Recruitment qualifications require study in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Advertising, Marketing, Design or related fields; eligibility criteria include enrollment in graduate school or final year of a bachelor’s degree, or recent graduation with internship beginning within one year. Experience in computer skills, interest in development, proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere), and knowledge of photojournalism are preferred. Language requirements include Portuguese (mother tongue) and English, with Spanish as an asset.
