We are seeking a new early childhood education teacher for the Leppäsuo unit for the upcoming term in a group of 3–5 year olds. In the group, the teacher works with a social educator and a childminder. The groups are active and accustomed to moving in the city’s cultural events. As a preschool teacher you are responsible for building your group's operating culture and learning environment, planning, implementing, developing and evaluating pedagogical activities, and supporting each child’s individual learning in accordance with the Helsinki Early Childhood Education and Preparatory Education Plan, unit plan and the child’s vasu. Qualifications: You must have a qualification under the Finnish Childcare Act (540/2018) or, under transitional provisions, a Bachelor of Education (LTO) or an applicable university of applied sciences degree, or an equivalent previous qualification such as a kindergarten teacher or social educator qualification (Law 272/2005 and Decree 608/2005). A decision recognizing foreign qualifications by the Finnish National Agency for Education also meets the requirement. In addition, you must have good spoken and written Finnish. The chosen candidate must present a current criminal background check for work with children (504/2002). A TB screening related to inhalation tuberculosis for under-school children will be checked (Tartuntatautilaki § 55). When starting a permanent position as a preschool teacher at the City of Helsinki in 2026 we offer a sign-on bonus of 2000 EUR. The bonus is paid only once to the same person.
