The City of Tampere has six day upper secondary schools and one adult secondary school, with 4,600 future graduates. The growing and developing upper secondary education sector has 340 expert employees dedicated to building the students' futures. In addition to a high-quality and diverse general education offering, the City of Tampere's upper secondary schools have five special educational missions: fine arts and design, sports, natural sciences, music and musical theatre, and English-language IB education. The schools also offer other curricular emphases, including a mathematics and technology line, a communication line, a social sciences line, a skating line, and a Finnish- and English-language line (Bilingual Study Programme). English-language upper secondary education (English Study Programme) will begin at Pyynikki Upper Secondary School starting August 1, 2026. We are seeking a full-time fixed-term hourly teacher of physical education and health education for Tampere Lyceum from October 1, 2026, to July 31, 2027. There is also a likely need for a substitute for the period September 4 – September 30, 2026. Your duties include teaching physical education and health education modules for groups studying the national curriculum as well as IB groups. Teaching duties may include simultaneous and joint teaching as well as online teaching. The job description includes the development of teaching. Eligibility is determined according to the Decree on the Qualifications of Teaching Staff 986/1998. Experience in teaching according to upper secondary school physical education and health education curricula, experience in planning and implementing traditional debutante balls, experience in implementing hiking modules or other similar modules in cooperation with other teachers, and the ability to teach in English are considered assets. Before accepting the position, the selected candidate must present a criminal record extract in accordance with Section 6, Paragraph 2 of the Criminal Records Act. We use a probationary period in official positions, which in a fixed-term official relationship of less than a year may be at most half the duration of the relationship. Salary is according to OVTES. The salary consists of a position-specific salary, a seniority increment, and possible other salary supplements.
