Electrical Engineer

The posted job is for an Electrical Engineer to join the engineering team on a freelance basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, review, and delivery of HV substation engineering activities across the project lifecycle, working closely with clients, EPC contractors, and key stakeholders to ensure technical excellence and compliance with industry standards. Key Responsibilities: Prepare and review HV substation design documentation, including Single Line Diagrams, protection & control schematics, cable schedules, and equipment specifications. Deliver primary and/or secondary design engineering for AIS and GIS substations. Support equipment selection and technical evaluations for transformers, switchgear, protection systems, and substation auxiliaries. Review vendor documentation and ensure compliance with project specifications, IEC standards, and TenneT requirements where applicable. Participate in design reviews, technical workshops, and stakeholder meetings. Provide engineering support during construction, testing, commissioning, and energisation phases. Identify and resolve technical issues while ensuring projects are delivered safely and efficiently. Requirements: Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline. Strong experience delivering HV Substation projects, ideally within transmission and distribution environments. Proven background in primary and/or secondary design. Good understanding of protection & control systems, IEC 61850, transformers, switchgear, and earthing systems. Experience working with utilities, TSOs, DSOs, EPC contractors, or renewable energy grid connection projects. Ability to work independently within a fast-paced project environment.
