Backend Engineer

Job title: Senior Backend Engineer; Job type: Contract; Contract Length: 6-months; Rate: $25 per hour; Role Location: Remote - LATAM; The company: Our client provides businesses with a leading one-click checkout solution that drives secure, high-converting customer experiences. Role and Responsibilities: As the primary backend engineer, you will own the services powering these experiences, building and operating a scalable NestJS backend that manages accounts, money movement, KYC, and integrations with banking, brokerage, and financial data partners. This is a high-ownership role where you'll make architectural decisions, deliver features end-to-end, and ensure the reliability and performance of production systems. Responsibilities: Design, develop, and maintain RESTful APIs using NestJS and TypeScript, consumed by the company’s Android application (Kotlin). Own integrations with key fintech partners, including: Synctera (Banking-as-a-Service); Plaid (Account Linking); Atomic (Brokerage); Zero Hash (Cryptocurrency); Experian (Credit Data). Build and maintain critical financial workflows, including: ACH transfers; Card transactions; Rewards; Payroll processing. Job Requirements: 5+ years of backend engineering experience; strong proficiency in Node.js/TypeScript, Go, Java, or Python; Experience with NextJS is a plus; MongoDB/Redis and asynchronous queues; API versioning for mobile apps; Docker, Kubernetes, GitHub Actions; end-to-end ownership.
