In the City of Oulu's building control, you will have a concrete impact on the cityscape and the quality of construction. We are looking for an INSPECTION ENGINEER for an important expert role as part of our competent and developing work community. Building control promotes, guides, and supervises the creation and maintenance of a high-quality building stock and a pleasant environment. Building control serves the city residents and ensures that the general interest is taken into account. The duties of the inspection engineer include guidance and advice on construction and design, permit preparation, inspection activities, on-site construction guidance, and continuous monitoring of the environment. The primary tasks of the inspection engineer currently being recruited are inspection activities and continuous monitoring of the environment. Additionally, in cooperation with other building control staff, the duties include influencing legislation and aligning interpretations, as well as networking with construction industry operators. The role also involves developing and implementing customer-oriented, value-adding building control services. The supervisor may assign other building control tasks. The inspection manager of building control serves as the supervisor for the inspection engineer. The eligibility requirement is a suitable engineering degree in the field of construction or a vocational degree in the field. The position requires an understanding of building control permit preparation and inspection activities, monitoring tasks of the built environment, and the role of the authority. We require sufficient practical work experience in construction design and site management tasks. We also require a good knowledge and ability to apply the Land Use and Building Act and regulations concerning construction. The applicant is required to have good interaction and cooperation skills as well as clear communication skills. Successful performance of the duties requires the ability to act in customer service situations in a solution-oriented manner, as well as good IT skills and readiness to use digital systems. The official responsibility associated with the position requires independent decision-making ability and fair discretion. Experience in building control work is considered an advantage. The language skills required for the official position or employment relationship are determined by the law on language proficiency required of personnel in public communities.
