Ward Doctor

Solo Health is seeking a General Practitioner to work as a Ward Doctor at Laakso Hospital from August 17th to 31st, 2026. The role is based at Laakso Hospital, with ward placement determined by client needs; most patients in the Helsinki hospital's wards are geriatric. Responsibilities include diagnosing, treating, and monitoring patient illnesses and recording this in the patient information system using ICD 10. The doctor will interpret laboratory and X-ray results, plan and monitor care and rehabilitation with a multidisciplinary team, and provide assessments, statements, and certificates regarding health status, legal capacity, and follow-up care. Other duties include discharge tasks such as checking medication lists, writing prescriptions and urgent statements, conducting final evaluations, negotiating with relatives, and deciding on treatment lines. The role also involves confirming deaths according to City of Helsinki guidelines and writing burial permits during office hours. Requirements include qualification as a General Practitioner, at least one year of experience in ward work, vaccination protection according to Section 48 of the Communicable Diseases Act, and good Finnish language skills. Working hours are weekdays from 8:00 to 16:00.
