About the role

About the role\nWe are looking for a Senior Project Manager to own end-to-end execution of real estate design and construction projects across our global portfolio. You will be the day-to-day operator on active projects, managing consultants, contractors, schedule, budget, and stakeholder coordination from intake through commissioning and close-out. You’ll hold the technical, commercial, and relational layers of delivery so that complex builds land on time, on budget, and on brief. The role is hybrid (in office 3 days/week) with travel to project sites (~20% expected). You’ll report to the Lead, Real Estate Project Management.\nResponsibilities:\nProject execution, end-to-end\nOwn assigned projects from intake through commissioning and close-out.\nBuild, maintain, and pressure-test the project schedule against milestones. Surface schedule risk early and propose mitigations.\nOwn the project budget at the line-item level. Track committed versus forecast versus spend, manage change orders, and flag variances above tolerance.\nMaintain the project risk log and publish weekly status updates.\nOwn project close-out documentation and lessons-learned capture.\nContract administration and commercial management\nDraft, negotiate, and administer consultant and contractor agreements across architect, engineer, GC, sub-trades, and specialty vendors.\nRun RFPs and bid analysis for prime consultant and contractor selection on assigned projects.\nIssue and track POs, invoices, change orders, and payment certificates through procurement systems.\nLead commercial negotiation on fees, scope, and business contract terms.\nDrawing and submittal review\nReview consultant drawing packages at schematic, design development, and construction document stages for completeness, constructability, and alignment to brief.\nMark up architectural, mechanical, and electrical drawings for coordination and conflict resolution.\nPressure-test consultant timelines and scope assumptions before they are accepted.\nCoordinate technical reviews with internal stakeholders across Facilities, IT, AV, Security, Brand, and Marketing.\nVendor and consultant management\nManage prime consultant and GC relationships through the full project lifecycle.\nCoordinate sub-trade scope across millwork, AV, IT, lighting, and FF&E.\nHold consultants accountable to deliverables, deadlines, and contract terms, and resolve performance issues directly.\nStakeholder communication\nKeep internal Shopify stakeholders aligned through the build, across Facilities, IT, Brand, Events, Security, Culinary, and Port Operations.\nLead project meetings including kickoff, weekly site, and owner-architect-contractor coordination.\nSite oversight\nConduct site visits at key milestones including mobilization, in-wall, finishes, and punch list.\nCoordinate with on-site port operations to compress disruption windows during live-port construction.\nAI-enabled execution\nUse the team's internal AI tools and agents to accelerate day-to-day execution.\nBuild net-new agents and AI-enabled workflows that accelerate execution and deepen the technical layer of the project process.\nReporting\nOwn weekly status updates for cross-functional stakeholders, covering schedule, budget, risks, and decisions.\nTranslate project status into exec-ready content for leadership decks and updates.\nQualifications:\n5 to 7+ years of construction project management experience, preferably in commercial fit-out, hospitality, or office build environments.\nPMP certification.\nDemonstrated ownership of multi-million-dollar capital projects from design through close-out.\nStrong contract administration and commercial negotiation experience.\nComfort reading and reviewing architectural, mechanical, and electrical drawing sets.\nStrong written communication, with the ability to translate site complexity into executive-ready summaries.\nComfort working across multiple time zones, vendors, and internal stakeholders, and the judgment to know when to escalate.\nClient-side project management experience, with the perspective of representing the client through design and construction rather than executing as the GC.\nDemonstrated ability to manage risk and escalate effectively, with examples of preventing or recovering schedule and budget impacts on complex builds.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nCommercial construction background, with extensive experience on boutique projects (hospitality, premium retail, or design-led commercial fit-out) where design intent, craft, and finish detail set the bar.\nFamiliarity with AutoCAD, Revit, and Procore.\nExperience executing projects across multiple jurisdictions in North America and Europe.\nHands-on experience with AI tooling such as Claude or custom agents as part of everyday project delivery.\nHow to Apply:\nIf this sounds like the kind of work you want to be doing, we want to hear from you. Please submit your application along with a brief note (300 words max) on a recent project you delivered that didn't go to plan: the moment you had to make a hard call, the decision you made, and what you'd do differently.\nAbout Shopify\nOpportunity is not evenly distributed. Shopify puts independence within reach for anyone with a dream to start a business. We propel entrepreneurs and enterprises to scale the heights of their potential. Since 2006, we’ve grown to over 8,300 employees and generated over $1 trillion in sales for millions of merchants in 175 countries. \n This is life-defining work that directly impacts people’s lives as much as it transforms your own. This is putting the power of the few in the hands of the many, is a future with more voices rather than fewer, and is creating more choices instead of an elite option.\nAbout you\nMoving at our pace brings a lot of change, complexity, and ambiguity—and a little bit of chaos. Shopifolk thrive on that and are comfortable being uncomfortable. That means Shopify is not the right place for everyone.\nBefore you apply, consider if you can:Care deeply about what you do and about making commerce better for everyone\nExcel by seeking professional and personal hypergrowth\nKeep up with an unrelenting pace (the week, not the quarter)\nBe resilient and resourceful in face of ambiguity and thrive on (rather than endure) change\nBring critical thought and opinion\nPut AI agents and tools to work on the tasks they're built for, and focus on the work only humans can do\nEmbrace differences and disagreement to get shit done and move forward\nWork digital-first for your daily work\nWe may use AI-enabled tools to screen, select, and assess applications. All AI outputs are reviewed and validated by our recruitment team.\nShopifyhttps://www.shopify.com\nWe hire people, not resumes. If you think you’re right for the role, apply now.\nApply Now
