About the role

The Head of Legal Affairs acts as a guide and motivator for their group to achieve common goals, such as excellent customer experience, operational correctness, and the full utilization of technology. The Head of Legal Affairs is responsible for the legal matters of the Compensation Department as a whole and works in close cooperation with those responsible for legislation in other departments. They serve as the supervisor of the Compensation Law group and are responsible for the preparation and implementation of legislation related to the department's operations, as well as assessing the impact of legislative changes. The Head of Legal Affairs is a member of the Compensation Department's management team, reporting to the Department Director, and assists and advises management on legally demanding issues. The role includes participating in projects and working groups and acting as a project owner. The position involves preparing various statements. The Head of Legal Affairs is responsible for the legal compensation policy of the Compensation Department's services, provides legal support in challenging customer service cases, and conducts negotiations with customers and other partners. When necessary, they represent the State Treasury in court and in media inquiries regarding the Compensation Department. The lawyers and experts led by the Head of Legal Affairs provide legal opinions, statements, and reports on, among other things, work and military accidents, travel, crime, and traffic damages, as well as cases of wrongful imprisonment and negligence fees. The group also handles tasks related to the department's risk management. The Compensation Law group consists of 10 employees, primarily lawyers. In this position, you will use a coaching and serving approach and take experts into account both as group members and as individuals. You are enthusiastic about supervisory work and have a track record of successful implementation of change and development. You quickly grasp new things and commit to common goals. In addition to legal expertise and supervisory work, the role involves developing the group's services together with the department's developers and partners.
