Job Description
As a ward secretary at Espoo Hospital, you are an important part of a multidisciplinary work community and act as a link between patients, relatives, nurses, doctors, therapists, and other collaborating parties. In the role of ward secretary, you are part of the hospital's core operations and ensure that information flows and matters progress in a timely manner. The work of a ward secretary at Espoo Hospital is a versatile and responsible role combining patient administration, customer service, multidisciplinary cooperation, and support for the daily operations of the ward. Key tasks include patient admissions and discharges, arrangements related to patient transfers and home discharges, and the processing of appointments, referrals, examinations, laboratory and imaging orders, and patient documents. The work also includes handling epicrises, care notifications, official documents, mailings, archiving, and billing matters. Workplace name and address: Espoo Hospital, Karvasmäentie 6, 02740 Espoo Working hours: 38.25 h/week, shift work Mon-Fri (2-shift rotation: morning 7:00-15:00 and evening 12:30-20:00) The position is a fixed-term annual leave replacement. Start date: 19.10.2026 or by agreement. Position-specific salary: 2558.63 €/month What do we require from you? We require that you have a matriculation examination certificate or a vocational qualification. The work requires fluent use of information systems, careful documentation, and a willingness to adopt various operating methods and instructions. Additionally, a service-oriented approach, ability to cooperate, initiative, and a patient-centered work style are emphasized in the role. The position requires vaccination protection according to Section 48 of the Communicable Diseases Act and a tuberculosis screening according to Section 55 of the Communicable Diseases Act. Those selected for the position/employment may be randomly asked for a drug test in accordance with the substance abuse program of the Western Uusimaa wellbeing services county. Previous experience in healthcare or financial administration is valued and considered an advantage.
