About the role

At the Lakkatie special children's home, we provide long-term care, education, and rehabilitation for children and adolescents aged 7-17 placed in foster care. Together, we build a safe daily life where every child is met individually and receives support for their growth and rehabilitation. In our work, we utilize methods from dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). With these, we strengthen the emotional regulation, interaction, and mindfulness skills of children and adolescents, and practice together the skills that support their daily lives and well-being. As a children's home instructor, you are responsible, together with the rest of the work group, for the care, education, and rehabilitation of children and adolescents. The work includes planned and goal-oriented care and educational work, handling everyday situations, and extensive network work. In this role, you act as a child's primary instructor, and you will be assigned one to two children. As a primary instructor, you plan and implement work that meets the individual needs of the child together with your partner. Additionally, you perform family work with the families of the placed children. A safe daily life requires presence, a consistent approach, and the ability to find effective solutions in various situations. What we offer you You will be supported by a competent and warm-hearted work community. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team which, in addition to children's home instructors, includes a lead instructor, a registered nurse, and a night nurse. Additionally, our team includes a children's home psychologist, who acts as your partner in family work. We offer you a versatile job where you can utilize your own expertise, develop professionally, and influence the well-being of children and adolescents. We are a communicative work community where we truly work together. The job includes regular group supervision and the opportunity to participate in continuing education organized according to needs arising from the work. What we expect from you Success in the job requires the ability to build trusting relationships and a desire to meet children, adolescents, and their families with respect. You remain calm even in challenging situations, speak about things courageously, and bring your own expertise into the multidisciplinary cooperation. We require good oral and written Finnish language skills and documentation skills. We value experience working with children, adolescents, and families. Professional additional training, such as AVEKKI, DBT, Family Assessment method, and expertise in neuropsychiatry, substance abuse, and trauma, are considered an advantage. The eligibility requirement for the position is a suitable university degree or a previous college-level degree. We will interview applicants during the application period.
