The Lapland Welfare Area is seeking a part-time chief physician for the pain clinic to a permanent position in the rehabilitation unit in Rovaniemi. The start date is negotiable. We are looking for a specialist doctor to bring their expertise and experience in the treatment of patients with chronic pain to our multidisciplinary team. We expect your vision for further developing services, especially in a multidisciplinary model and in supporting rehabilitation and functional capacity. The pain clinic operates within the hospital premises as a referral outpatient clinic and is part of our organization’s rehabilitation unit. Responsibilities do not include acute or perioperative pain management. The duties include the responsibilities of a specialist doctor at the pain clinic and overseeing the treatment unit, regional development of chronic pain management, and consultations related to pain treatment with primary healthcare and other specialist units. The role does not include managerial or administrative tasks. Qualifications include the right to practice medicine under the Finnish Act on Healthcare Professionals (559/1994) §4 and specialist qualification in a relevant field. Candidates should have an interest and motivation to develop pain management functions and expertise regionally. Experience in treating pain patients and special competence in pain management are considered an advantage. If the candidate does not have this special qualification, support for training is available. The role does not include on-call duties, but on-call work may be possible depending on the candidate’s specialty and willingness. The position can also be successfully performed part-time. Salary and employment terms are based on the Medical Contract. A 6-month probation period applies. Proficiency in Finnish, both spoken and written, is required.
