Read more: www.tuni.fi We are seeking for Tampere University Vice Rector to strengthen the university's strategic management and develop research activities at national and international levels for the period 1.1.2027-31.12.2031. Job Description As the Vice Rector responsible for research, you will lead the university's research activities and its strategic development as part of the rectorate. In your position, you will: - ensure the high quality of research and support the implementation of the university's strategic goals - work closely with the rector and other vice rectors (education, support for strategy implementation, stakeholder cooperation and partnerships) - actively monitor international research and higher education development trends as well as national science policy and related legislation, and be responsible for their implementation at the university - participate in the activities of the management team - lead the university's internal councils and preparatory groups related to research - actively represent the university in key national and international research and higher education networks. The rector decides on the more detailed areas of responsibility of the vice rectors in accordance with the university's administrative regulations. The position of vice rector is full-time and is filled for a fixed term from 1.1.2027 to 31.12.2031. Your place of work is Tampere. Requirements Success in the position requires: - a doctoral degree and professor qualifications - extensive and versatile knowledge of the academic operating environment - knowledge of the national and international research funding field and science policy - strong, practically demonstrated leadership experience in positions related to research or research organizations - understanding of research infrastructures, research funding and the promotion of research ecosystems - experience in operating in the international scientific community and building international research networks - ability to lead a networked and multidisciplinarily operating organization - excellent cooperation and interaction skills - excellent Finnish and English language skills.
