About the role

The City of Kotka's early childhood education sector is seeking a Growth and Learning Support Planner for early childhood education, starting September 1, 2026. Are you the expert we are looking for, someone who takes initiative and wants to be part of developing growth and learning support in early childhood education? We expect courage to act in an expert role, an interest in keeping your skills up to date, and a commitment to implementing a developmental approach and providing training for early childhood education staff. Your task will be to develop children's growth and learning support in Kotka's early childhood education and pre-primary education. In this role, you will actively adopt the updated national core curriculum for early childhood education and the Basic Education Act, and develop an inclusive operational culture in early childhood and pre-primary education. As a member of the early childhood education management team, you will bring your expert knowledge to the development of the entire early childhood education sector. There are approximately 1,570 children in Kotka's early childhood education, including pre-primary education. Starting in autumn 2026, there will be 14 special education teachers in early childhood education, working within the management structure of each daycare center. In Kotka's early childhood education, we encourage pedagogy that notices the good and promote an active lifestyle for children. We are looking for a professional whose work demonstrates commitment, appreciative interaction, a desire for collaboration, and positive thinking. The job involves coordinating, implementing, and developing support for early childhood and pre-primary education in cooperation with special education teachers, daycare center directors, basic education, and wellbeing services county experts. Active peer and development networks will support the work. We are looking for a Growth and Learning Support Planner with a suitable higher education degree and studies providing professional qualifications for the role of a special education teacher in early childhood education (Early Childhood Education Act 540/2018 §30) or a Master of Education majoring in special pedagogy (special education teacher training/degree in early childhood education). Degree and work certificates as well as a CV will be requested from those invited to an interview. The position requires a health certificate regarding respiratory tuberculosis in accordance with Section 55 of the Communicable Diseases Act. A tuberculosis questionnaire will be completed by the applicant during the application phase. The questionnaire and interpretation guidelines provided by the Occupational Health Institute will be used. Before starting the position, the selected candidate must present an acceptable health certificate and an extract from the criminal record check for those working with children (Law 504/2002). Working hours are 36.25 h/week. The position is subject to a six (6) month probationary period.
