Garden Department Manager
Garden Department Manager in Eura; needs gardening know-how, customer skills and strong Office skills.
We are looking for an energetic garden department manager to join the Hankkija store team in Eura. You will be responsible for the garden department and also take part in other store work. What do we expect from you? We expect you to have suitable education for the role (gardener, horticulturalist) or knowledge of gardening and its development gained through work experience and/or a hobby. Outside the season, the role also includes telephone sales to existing and new customers (you will of course receive training for this) and warehouse work, which requires good physical fitness. Forklift-driving skills are considered an advantage, but you can also learn them in the role. Experience in other store product categories is a plus. The most important things to us are that you have the right attitude and a genuine desire and passion to develop yourself. We will take care of your induction. You will enjoy working with us if you are enthusiastic about people-oriented work, like getting things done and do not get nervous when things are busy. Straightforward teamwork is close to our hearts, and we believe work can—and should—be fun. You must be an adult and able to serve customers in Finnish. What is the work like? As Hankkija’s garden department manager, you will work during store opening hours with both consumer and professional customers. Your duties include coordinating the garden department’s daily operations, receiving goods, pricing, displaying products and managing stock. You will process and follow up on advance orders for plants and maintain product information in the systems. You will also be responsible for the store’s social media marketing and take part in planning and publishing marketing content. The role also includes cooperation with educational institutions and onboarding and guiding seasonal employees. A significant part of the work is computer-based, involving inventory management, advance orders, order tracking, system use and marketing tasks. Succeeding in the role requires good IT skills and a strong command of Office programs, especially Excel, Word and Outlook. Outside the gardening season, you will take part in selling other product categories and in the everyday life of the store. You can develop as an expert in the product range, share your knowledge and create successful customer experiences. You will have a knowledgeable and enthusiastic team as colleagues, one that values a positive approach to work and employee wellbeing. The position is permanent and full-time, 37.5 hours per week. The start date is agreed with the successful candidate, no later than October. We offer a competitive salary of approximately €2,200–€3,000, taking your previous experience into account. The commerce collective agreement applies to the employment relationship. Barona is involved in the recruitment process, but you will be employed by Hankkija. Why choose Hankkija? At Hankkija, we can offer genuinely varied and diverse duties. With departments of all kinds, you can develop your skills in many directions if you wish. When you need additional skills for your work, we arrange regular training to maintain and broaden your professional competence. We provide good employee benefits, including comprehensive occupational healthcare, an annual ePassi balance, purchase discounts at Hankkija stores and discounts from our partners. We are a large and secure employer. You can trust that things are handled properly and that there is work even during turbulent times. We would be pleased to hear more about you and your skills. Submit your application through the application link. We will start reviewing applications and holding interviews during the application period, so please apply as soon as possible. The first interview round is conducted through video questions. The actual interviews are also held conveniently by video via Teams. The position will be filled as soon as a suitable person is found.
