We are now looking for Xamk: DIRECTOR OF RESEARCH UNIT Digitalia, Mikkeli What is the job about? As the Director of the Research Unit, you are responsible for the management of Digitalia, the Digital Information Management Research Center. You are also responsible for the research infrastructure Memory Lab, where AI-based information management methods are developed for memory organizations and companies. Your place of work is the Mikkeli campus. The position is permanent and begins on October 1, 2026, or by agreement. A probationary period applies to the filling of the position. As the head of Digitalia, you will influence the vitality of the Mikkeli region through research and development projects, service business, educational cooperation and stakeholder cooperation. You operate in regional and international networks, connect regional operators to them and promote the utilization of top expertise in your field. In your work, you will operate in close cooperation with memory organizations, research organizations, companies and operators of the Memory Campus cluster. Digitalia is a network that includes operators in addition to Xamk from the University of Helsinki and the National Library. Your closest colleagues will be a multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary group of experts. In addition, you will cooperate with Xamk's training and students. Experts in RDI activities and its development, as well as project staff, are involved in RDI activities. Two research groups operate in Digitalia: digital business and digital information management and archiving. We require a higher education degree and consider a postgraduate degree to be very significant for the work. We expect you to have evidence of the effective management of demanding RDI entities, the acquisition of RDI funding and experience in the world of digital information management and an understanding of the possibilities of artificial intelligence. We hope for good leadership and interaction skills and experience in personnel management. The work requires the ability to network both nationally and internationally. Due to the international nature of the work, you need fluent English skills in addition to Finnish. How does the application process proceed? Requirements

- Experience in acquiring R&D funding
- Expertise in digital information management and understanding of AI possibilities
- Strong leadership and interaction skills

- Ability to network nationally and internationally
- Fluency in English and Finnish
