Your main workplace is Vantaa Prison, but shifts are also worked at Kerava Prison when needed. We offer a stable working environment, varied duties and meaningful work in an important social-service setting as part of Leijona Catering’s dedicated food team. What does the job involve? The kitchen at Vantaa Prison is responsible each day for meals for about 350 prisoners and Criminal Sanctions Agency staff. In addition, we prepare and pack about 150 meals daily for delivery to Kerava Prison. The work is mainly at Vantaa Prison, but cooks also work occasionally in the kitchen at Kerava Prison, providing variety between two locations. As a cook, you take part in all daily kitchen tasks, including: - Preparing hot and cold dishes - Packing meals for transport - Washing dishes - Helping ensure the kitchen runs smoothly and stays clean with the team The prison’s precise daily schedule provides clear structure, and food must always be ready on time. Kitchen work is predictable because customer numbers remain steady and daily processes are well planned. At the same time, the work is varied, as you take part in all kitchen tasks, from food preparation and packing to maintaining the kitchen. Work takes place every day of the year. Your shifts fall between 5:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Monday to Friday and between 6:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on weekends. What we hope for from you - Cook training or equivalent skills - A valid hygiene passport - Kitchen-work experience and an enthusiastic attitude to learning new things - An energetic, responsible and cooperative approach to work - Good Finnish skills, as Finnish is our working language and recipes are available only in Finnish. Please note, fluent Finnish is required for this position. - You must be at least 18 and willing to undergo a security clearance. Employment can begin only after the clearance is approved; we will support you throughout the process. Previous experience in a large-scale kitchen is an advantage.
