We are seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher to conduct experimental research in nanoscience and quantum materials using Scanning Tunneling Microscopy (STM) and advanced fabrication of two-dimensional van der Waals heterostructures. The successful candidate will join the Synthetic Quantum Materials Group at the University of Jyväskylä, Finland. The position will begin on November 1, 2026, for a duration of 1 year with the possibility of extension up to 3 years. The position is fixed-term. Responsibilities include conducting fundamental experimental research, fabricating and assembling 2D van der Waals heterostructures, performing structural and electronic characterization, carrying out ultrahigh vacuum cryogenic STM measurements, operating and maintaining advanced scanning probe microscopy systems, analyzing data, and publishing results. The role also involves collaborating within a high-performance research environment and presenting at international conferences. Who should apply: PhD in Condensed Matter Physics, Materials Science or related field; hands-on experience with 2D heterostructures; knowledge of 2D material transfer techniques and cleanroom-based microfabrication; experience with low-temperature STM (preferred); strong publication record; excellent communication skills; ability to work independently within a team.
